When? Where? Who?

When  /  September 27-29, 2017

Where  /  Graz University of Technology, Austria

Who  / The conference addresses creative and innovative professionals and researchers at the forefront of facade design, whose contributions will be peer reviewed. We will discuss tasks and issues in research, design and manufacturing of high-performance façades and building envelopes. Participants will gain new perspectives on, and an enhanced insight into, developments and research in design and engineering for tomorrow’s advanced building skins. The abstracts and papers will be peer reviewed.

COST Action TU 1403

MID-TERM CONFERENCE – COST ACTION TU1403  Adaptive Facades Network

The main objective of COST Action TU1403 is to harmonise, share and disseminate technological knowledge on adaptive facades at a European level. This shall lead to increased knowledge sharing between European research centres and  industry, the development of novel concepts, technologies and new combinations of existing technologies for adaptive facades, as well as the development of new knowledge such as effective evaluation tools / design methods for adaptive facades.

Call for Papers

The conference topics focus on innovative design methods and technologies of high performance facades as well as on research in the field of building envelopes. Based on this several sub-themes are defined, which are listed below:

Façade Concepts

Adaptive Façade Technologies  /  Novel Structural Skins  /  Multifunctional Façade Systems  /  Façade Refurbishment   /   Advanced Geometries

Functional Requirements

Energy Efficient and Daylight Design Concepts  /  Integration of HVAC  /  Building Physics and Fire Protection  /  Life Cycle Engineering  /  IT and Sensor Technology Based Systems  /  Monitoring Systems / Climate, Comfort, Bioclimatic Design

Adaptive Materials – Self-Assembly & Self-Organization  /  Emerging Materials and Advanced Manufacturing Technologies  / Facade Industry 4.0 Cyberphysical Systems & Internet of Things  /  Structural Use of Glass  /  Joints, Connections and Sealents

Authors are invited to submit their abstracts (max. 300 words) by March 15th, 2017 to office@nextfacades.at.
The abstracts
and papers will be peer reviewed by the scientific committee.

You can download the abstract template here.

Selected authors will be invited to submit a manuscript for publication in the

Journal of Façade Design and Engineering (JFDE) and Glass Structures & Engineering (Springer).
